Susan Sugar paints the skies most people never appreciate or see: tumultuous, moody, dawn skies. For the past 14 years she has focused on the sea and sky off the coast of Key West, capturing moments and the poetry of place. With a background in dance and architecture, she interprets life in terms of movement, and space, and light, recreating what she sees with her brushstrokes.

She has a degree from George Washington University in Washington DC, studied architecture and fine art in New York City at Columbia University, and also studied at the New York Studio School of Drawing Painting and Sculpture.

New York City has been home since 1979 and she exhibits there, as well as in Martha's Vineyard, the Hamptons, and Key West.
